Bill Yeoman knows how to make an entering. Elmira's second-year head coach first came to the program in 1998 as an assistant to Scott Nopp. That year the Lady Falcons qualified for the OSAA 3A State meet for the first time in six years.

Two years and two state meet berths later, Yeoman was named head coach for Elmira. The Ashland, Ore. native was also named the Sky-Em League's Coach of the Year.

Success has followed Yeoman everywhere he gone in his 28-year running career. From when Yeoman joined the Ashland High School cross country team as a sophomore to his arrival in Elmira, programs have benefitted.

Yeoman was the top runner on the state-qualifying Ashland High team in 1975, the first under Bob Julian Sr.'s tenure. Yeoman ran in one of the toughest periods of Oregon High School cross country, which included runners like Billy McChesney, Clancy Devery and Scott Spruill.

At Southern Oregon College, Yeoman continued his success in running by helping the Raiders to a Conference championship and winning an individual title in the 10,000 meters.

Yeoman got a head start on his coaching career while still competing at SOC. Yeoman and teammates Stan Goodell and Kelly Jensen were self-coached for the 1979 season.

After a strong post-collegiate running career, which included a trip to the U.S. marathon nationals in Denton, Texas, Yeoman became an assistant at his alma-mater, Ashland. There, Yeoman helped Grizzly Tim Julian to a state meet berth.

Last season, Yeoman capped his first season with a girls state meet berth and two individual boy state qualifiers. Yeoman has built the Elmira program up with a strong off-season training regime and an "injury avoidance" program.

Yeoman is a registered nurse for Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene.
